Increasing Access to Education

The Grove Community Outreach funds several afterschool math programs, through PicScience, around the Wiregrass to promote the purpose of education and provide access to STEM possibilities. This afterschool program now serves roughly 30 fourth and fifth-grade kids in the Elba Public Library and three other locations: Hawk Houston Yec Dothan, Alabama; Time Youth of Dothan, Alabama; and the Boys & Girls Club of Daleville, Alabama. The Grove Outreach collaborated with educators and scientists to co-create this program, which tailors training to pupils who have shown poor arithmetic performance. Basic arithmetic skills are required for more advanced math and science courses.
